Waffle Words is a daily word puzzle: swap letters on a waffle-shaped grid to form six valid words in fifteen moves or fewer.

About Waffle Words

Waffle Words presents a five-by-five grid shaped like a waffle, with letters filling every row and column that counts. The letters are scrambled and your job is to swap them into place so that the three horizontal and three vertical words are all real. Green tiles are correct, yellow tiles belong somewhere in the same row or column, and grey tiles are in the wrong place entirely.

You have fifteen swaps, and a perfect solve uses only ten, so the game is as much about efficiency as about vocabulary. A new puzzle appears each day and an archive lets you go back.

How to Play Waffle Words

Look at the green letters; they are already correct.
Drag a letter onto another to swap them.
Use the yellow hints to place letters within their row or column.
Form all six words before you run out of swaps.

Controls

Mouse: drag a tile onto another tile to swap.
Touch: tap and drag works the same way.

Tips and Tricks

Solve the corners first. Each corner letter belongs to two words, so it constrains the most.
A yellow tile at an intersection may belong to either the row or the column. Check both.
Try to make each swap fix two letters at once to stay near the ten-move par.
Common letter patterns such as -ING, -ED and TH- help you guess partial words.
